What does db stand for on new receiver? - db anywhere
Hello!
I know I sound like an idiot, but I want to buy one Onkyo AV Receiver for my Home Cinema. I have my front speakers and there is an option to the front speakers set around-12dB to +12 dB.
What does this mean and who would make the sound louder / better?
Thank you!

DB is decibels, and is a standard unit of electrical signals or noise level.
For the sound pressure level, the DB is an absolute unit. In other words, if you will require a certain amount of deciblels a certain amount of sound pressure level (0 dB is the threshold for young, healthy, a conversation is 60 dB from an average of 1 cm, 125 dB, a rotary hammer, etc.. - Follow this link: http://www.coolmath.com/decibels1.htm to see).
For the electronic signals and the differences in the sound pressure level dB dB is a relative unit. Since it is based on a logarithmic scale comes with an increased noise level of 3 dB represents a doubling of sound pressure level, while an increase leads by 10 dB to 10 times the noise level, results, and 20 dB at 100 times the sound pressure level.
For an electronic signal that is based on a scale dB (dBmW - are decibels relative to a milliwatt or dBmV - decibels relative to one millivolt increased, for example), the same ratio of signal increase compared to PP APLayers. 0 dBmV is 1 mV, 3 mV 2 dBmV, 10 dBmV of 10 mV, etc.
Basically, what the controller is to say that you increase or decrease the signal from the speaker can be selected more or less than 12 dB, which must balance speaker outputs (depending on where the high - placed the speaker when you are more or less effective surround speakers, or if you are sitting in the room and listen to) the system.
PP means decibels. Decibel means "strength", so you must adjust the settings on your personal preferences in terms of acoustics.
predictable
then to 0 ... Then play with him, to see what you want
I have an HK AVR and the same.
I think it is a volume control, their Trebel), low (or decrease, depending on the room acoustics and size of the list will be increased.
Yes, you can sound better.
